There are so many different shades of red lipstick out there that anyone -- regardless of your skin tone or hair color -- can wear this totally kissable color.

The key to getting the right red is the coordinating the undertone with your skin tone. Yellow and orange-based reds are great for cool skin tones, while pink, blue and purple-based reds complement warmer complexions. (Check out our suggestions below.)

To keep the look from going overboard, mix gloss and color together on the back of your hand to get a more sheer effect. Avoid a heavy, intense red." Keeping your face balanced is important too -- if you accentuate your lips, use minimal eye makeup.

Yellow-based reds:
To release your inner siren, make a statement with a cherry red, like Tony & Tina Mood Balance Lipstick in Tender ($15) or Victoria's Secret Pure Reflection Ultra-Shine Lipstick in Red ($13).

Blue-based reds:
Think pink with Avon All Heart Ultra Color Rich Lipstick in Petal Kiss ($6.50). Or pack a purple punch with Bourjois Pour La Vie Lipstick in Rouge Ebene Pour Parisiennes 38 ($13).

Glosses:
For more shine, try Urban Decay Tart Lip Gunk ($12) or Smashbox Lip Gloss in Sassy ($14). Both have a hint of shimmer.
